Alumni In Action
Established in 2019 as a non-profit organization, promoting athletics and opportunity for students across Los Angeles inner-city schools.
Who we are, and who we are here for.
Alumni In Action was established in 2019 as a non-profit organization. AIA promotes athletics at Francis Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles, as well as other Los Angeles inner-city schools. AIA helps students from the ages of 14 to 17 years of age, with a 2.0 GPA or greater.
We create opportunities for students, parents, and coaches in the community. Through guidance, instruction, and athletic training, students in the inner-city will have greater opportunity to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life. We will be conducting seminars for the parents to get them more involved in their student's college preparation and future.
Part of the plan for AIA is to promote fundraisers, provide scholarships, and receive donations from prominent businesses and organizations. AIA also plans to distribute donated turkeys to families of under-privileged students in the Los Angeles area.
Our mission is to bring students, families, coaches and leaders together to guide and support our inner-city students into a brighter tomorrow.
The students in our program
Ages 14 to 17
High-school-age students in Los Angeles, at the point where the right guidance changes what comes next — in sport, in school, and beyond both.
A 2.0 GPA or greater
Academics are not an afterthought to athletics. Holding a 2.0 GPA or greater is what opens the door to the program and what we help students keep hold of.
Francis Polytechnic & beyond
AIA promotes athletics at Francis Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles, as well as other Los Angeles inner-city schools.
Parents and coaches too
We create opportunities for students, parents, and coaches in the community — because a student's support system is part of the program, not an audience to it.
Guidance, instruction, and the room to use both.
Guidance, instruction & athletic training
Through guidance, instruction, and athletic training, students in the inner-city will have greater opportunity to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life.
- 01Athletic training and instruction for student athletes
- 02Support for coaches working in inner-city schools
- 03A 2.0 GPA standard that keeps academics in the frame
Seminars for parents
We will be conducting seminars for the parents to get them more involved in their student's college preparation and future. Applications, eligibility, and the calendar that governs both are easier to navigate as a family than alone.
- 01College preparation, explained for parents
- 02Understanding academic eligibility for athletics
- 03Planning the years between 14 and 17 deliberately
Fundraisers, scholarships & donations
Part of the plan for AIA is to promote fundraisers, provide scholarships, and receive donations from prominent businesses and organizations — including our Charity Golf Tournament and AIA merchandise.
- 01Scholarships for students in the program
- 02Charity Golf Tournament and other fundraisers
- 03Corporate and organizational giving
Giving back at the holidays
AIA also plans to distribute donated turkeys to families of under-privileged students in the Los Angeles area — reaching the household, not only the student on the roster.
- 01Holiday turkey distribution to families in need
- 02Support directed at the wider Los Angeles community
